Library Tax: City Council Begins Process
|
Bill No. 2011-2295
Ordinance amending the Pittsburgh Code, Title Two, Fiscal; Article IX, Property
Taxes; Chapter 263, Real Property Tax and Exemption; Adding Section 263.03,
Special Library Tax Levy and Rate on Lands and Buildings, fixing the rate of
taxation effective as of January 1, 2012.
SPONSOR(S): PATRICK DOWD AND BRUCE A. KRAUS
The bill was assigned as a Supplemental/New Paper to the City Council's Committee on Finance and Law. In today's Standing Committees meeting of City Council, the bill was held for the City Council's Hearings Committee to schedule a public hearing on the bill. I understand that this public hearing cannot be scheduled until the County Department of Elections certifies the approval of the Special Library Tax Levy.
Hence, this public hearing before City Council will likely be scheduled sometime in December, as the tax levy is scheduled to take affect as of January 1. Stay tuned.
