16-inch Meade LX200 Schmidt-Cassegrain Reflector Telescope - 1991 October 5 to Present 

 

2016 November 19 marks the 75th anniversary of Pittsburgh's Buhl Planetarium Observatory. This photograph, from the late 1970s, shows former Buhl Planetarium Director Paul Oles looking through the historic 10-inch Siderostat-type Refractor Telescope. When observing the Sun, the solar image would be projected from the telescope onto a large projection screen (not shown in this photograph).
